1989 Porsche 911 Turbo is the best restored Porsche

Restored cars are increasingly popular, especially when it comes to classics, and the American market is home to more classic Porsche sports cars than any other market. Every year, Porsche holds the Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge where the best of the best are chosen, and this year’s winner is the 1989 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo.

The car was restored by Champion Porsche dealership Florida, painted in K5 Dark Blue. Interestingly, engine displacement was increased by an additional 100 cc over the years, but Champion Porsche reverted to the original 3.3L turbocharged flat-six with 282 hp (210 kW) and 289 lb-ft (392 Nm) of torque.

Before the restoration, the car was not in the best condition, so some parts had to be replaced with original ones. “Taking a vehicle missing parts when the project began, Champion Porsche’s efforts to restore a well-appreciated and worn 930 Turbo exemplify our goal at Porsche Classic – keeping all classic Porsche models on the road,” said Jonathan Sieber, Manager Porsche Classic with PCNA .

This model was produced between 1974 and 1989, and is the last one with a G-body. It is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission that transmits power to the rear wheels. The 911 Turbo’s biggest competitor was a yellow 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Type 993 restored by Porsche Exchange, Chicago.

Champion Porsche really made an effort to restore the car to its original condition. “Not a single bolt was left unturned, and every single part was either replaced with new genuine parts from Porsche Classic or restored. Our mission was to restore our 1989 911 Turbo to exactly what the original factory build sheet called for, resulting in a true factory restoration,” said a representative of Champion Porsche.
