1962 Porsche 356B 1600 Super 90 Cabriolet is for sale

Every now and then we come across a Porsche 356, the first production car from the German manufacturer, that is for sale. Some of them are in bad condition but can be a good project. However, there are some that are in pretty good condition and that is the case with this 1962 Porsche 356B 1600 Super 90 Cabriolet that is up for auction.

The Porsche 356B is powered by a 1.6-liter Super flat-four with a factory output of 86 hp (63 kW) @ 5500 rpm and 89 lb-ft (120 Nm) of torque @ 4300 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox. It should be noted that the fuel tank, rear muffler, and starter were replaced six years ago, while the rear pulley seal, fuel filter, and clamps were replaced last month. It sits on silver-finished 15” wheels wrapped in 185-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

This car is finished in black and is in pretty good condition, with the owner reporting minor damage such as a few dents, scratches and peeling chrome parts. It was fully restored in the mid-80s, and six years ago the car was equipped with a replacement black soft top, Sonnenland black boot cover, body-color bumpers, fog lights, a driver’s mirror, twin engine grilles with badges, aftermarket LED taillight bulbs, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper, and four-wheel drum brakes.

Inside, the seats are trimmed in red leather that also covers the door panels and the upper part of the dashboard. There is also a three-spoke steering wheel behind which is a five-digit odometer that shows 70,416 miles. Additional equipment includes a heater, a locking glove box, an adjustable rearview mirror, Coco Mats, a cigarette lighter, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/SW radio, and door pockets. A four-way flasher switch has been added under the dashboard.

This Porsche 356B Super 90 comes with a copy of the Kardex, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, refurbishment photos, spare parts, a tool kit, and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.

The auction ends on August 28 and the current highest bid is USD $125,000.
