After 58 years of racing experience we are ready to take the Mustang to the next level of global performance, said Ford Performance Motorsports global director Mark Rushbrook announcing the new GT3 race car, the Mustang GT3.
Ford will work with M-Sport on this project and the result should be a new race car. The owner of M-Sport, Malcolm Wilson, did not hide his enthusiasm for this cooperation. He said he is looking forward to a relationship with Ford Performance after a successful 25 years in the World Rally Championship.
This is not the first time M-Sport has participated in GT3 races, as their V8 engine led them to victory in the 2020 Bathurst 12-hour race and 2019 1000km of Paul Ricard. The new car will be powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that will be produced by M-Sport.
Ford has also announced that it will refresh the Mustang GT4 for 2023 to continue the success story of this model. “We’ve had a lot of success both here and in Europe with the current Mustang GT4, and we look forward to being able to provide our customers with a brand new car for competition in the GT4 category starting next season,” said Mark Rushbrook .
