BMW announces the arrival of the new racing M4 GT4 in response to competitors, especially the recently unveiled Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. The Bavarian company has published several photos from the current testing of the new model at the Almeria race track in Spain.
The car is based on the latest generation of the BMW M4 Coupé, like the previously introduced powerful GT3 version with which it shares several elements. Test drivers, Jens Klingmann and Erik Johansson, said that already in the early stages of testing, progress is evident in many areas compared to the previous generation M4 GT4.
BMW will offer the new M4 GT4 to private teams around the world from 2023, and it will contain a smaller number of changes compared to the road model. The department in charge of developing and testing BMW’s racing cars says that the latest tests have paid special attention to the car’s cooling system.
It is powered by an improved 3.0-liter turbocharged engine, different from the 503 hp that the M4 Competition has, and is expected to debut in the 2023 season.
Also, the engineers of the M Motorsport department are working hard to reduce the operating costs necessary for the GT4 class racing season. This will surely delight teams that have the GT4 in their plans.
