More and more car manufacturers are working closely with tire companies to ensure that the tires are the perfect fit for their vehicles. This allows them to ensure optimal operation of the suspension, steering system and brakes. One of them is the Michelin company, which for three years developed the special Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires for the new Mercedes-AMG GT.

Mmci from YouTube channel Tire Reviews conducted an interview with Michelin Sport test driver, Pierre-Antoine Gregoire, who is
said the focus was to produce tires that offered superior handling. Many things were thought about, such as how the car handles on real roads, how the steering wheel feels and how the tires react when changing direction quickly.

Michelin used 25 different compounds for the front tires, which have three parts: the inner is good for wet roads, the middle offers optimal performance when dry, while the outer is tough enough for track driving. The rear tires have two sections for wet grip, a middle section for dry performance and an outer section which is also made for dry conditions.

The Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 was developed at the Michelin test site in Ladoux, France, at the same time that Mercedes was developing the new AMG GT.
