Chery Fulwin A8L is the PHEV with the longest range

A few months ago, the Chery Fulwin T10 covered 2,100 km, and not long after, the SAIC Roewe D7 DMH reached 2,208 km. However, it did not take Chery to respond. Their Fulwin A8L model set a new record of 2,369.9 km, becoming the plug-in hybrid with the longest range.

The Chery Fulwin A8L is a 4.79-meter-long plug-in hybrid equipped with CDM 5.0 technology and an 18.6 kWh battery, with an electric range of 145 kilometers. Total power is 360 hp (268 kW) and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque, with an average consumption of 4.2 l/100 km according to Chinese homologation criteria.

It should be noted that the base Chery Fulwin A8L is powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine assisted by an electric motor and a smaller battery. Its starting price is 14,378 euros.

The decline in demand for EVs has also forced Chinese manufacturers to focus on developing plug-in hybrids, as shown by data that the demand for PHEVs in the Chinese market has increased by 70 percent. Therefore, the fight to sell more plug-in hybrid cars has become fierce among the major manufacturers, whose focus is now on boasting about new records. However, all figures must be taken with caution, especially since the conditions under which the test is carried out have not been published in detail.

Many believe that the Chery Fulwin A8L will not come to Europe anytime soon, but the increasing commitment of Chinese brands to PHEV vehicles shows that this could change.

2025 Skoda Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe

The debut of the refreshed Škoda Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe is approaching, and the Czech brand has released the first sketches. Both models come with better aerodynamics and a longer range.

By redesigning the front end, Škoda has optimized the aerodynamics, which had a direct impact on the range. The Enyaq remains the most aerodynamic model in the Czech manufacturer’s fleet thanks to its sloping roofline. What sets it apart from the current model are the new integrated matrix LED headlights and a new bumper, the illuminated Tech-Deck Face grille, dark chrome details on the hood, lower bumper and sills that give a premium feel, as well as the “Škoda” lettering with a Dark Chrome finish.

The Czech car manufacturer has not yet announced when the refreshed editions will debut, but it is expected to be by mid-2025.

The new Ford SUV is coming in mid-2025

Although times are tough for Ford in Europe, the American brand remains determined to maintain its commitment to purely electric mobility in Europe. This also means the arrival of a new SUV, the successor to the EcoSport, which will be launched in mid-2025.

Demand for EVs is lower than expected, which means that Ford, like most other manufacturers that made the transition to EVs too quickly, has faced reality. However, Ford is stubborn as shown by the recent launch of the all-electric Puma Gen-E which will join the hybrid version.

The new SUV will also be a standard B-SUV, meaning it will share a segment with the Puma. Ford isn’t worried about that, as the two models will take a very different approach. Also, EcoSport and Puma have shared showroom space before.

The successor to the EcoSport, which will be assembled at Ford’s facilities in Almussafes (Spain), will have a robust and adventurous design, as well as a different drive range. Although it was speculated that only an all-electric version would be offered, we cannot rule out that hybrids and mild hybrids could also be offered, as this is what European customers are most looking for.
