1957 Porsche 356A Carrera GT Speedster is up for auction

The Porsche 356 is one of the most collectible cars from the Stuttgart-based company. It was produced in four versions, and in 1955 Porsche introduced the second racing version, the 356A. Two years later, the road legal 356A Speedster (known as Type 2) arrived on the market. One of them, a 1957 Porsche 356A Carrera GT Speedster is up for auction.

The 356A Carrera GT Speedster is powered by a replacement 1.5L four-cam engine with 109 hp (81 kW), paired with a four-speed manual transmission. That’s enough power to reach 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds with a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). It is mounted on 15-inch alloy wheels with steel centers wrapped in 175/70 R15 Avon tires.

This car was restored in 1988 when it was painted in Silver Metallic and is in excellent condition. It is equipped with 60-millimeter ventilated front brakes, rear wheel spacers, 80-liter GT fuel tank, replacement gearbox. The interior contains the original panels, doors, decklid, and lightweight GT interior, with new floors, battery box, and rockers.

In 2019, the car has been treated to a thorough mechanical freshening by Speed Sport Tuning of Danbury, Connecticut, which cost $50,000. This included a professional conversion of the engine to full-synthetic motor oil, as well as timing, carburetor, and brake adjustments.

The car comes with a Blaupunkt jack and tool roll, a rare “Touring” kit containing cables, bulbs, fuses, and gaskets, uninstalled rollbar, “Atlantis” braided tow rope in a correct blue vinyl storage bag, period-correct driver’s manual with Carrera supplement , factory Kardex, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

1971 Ferrari Dino 246 GT is for sale

In 1969, Ferrari unveiled one of the greatest Ferraris of all time, the Ferrari Dino 246. It was produced until 1974 in two versions, and 2,295 GT coupés and 1,274 GTS spyders left the production line. One of them, the 1971 Ferrari Dino 246 GT is up for auction.

The Ferrari Dino 246 GT is powered by a mid-mounted 2.4-liter Tipo 135CS V6 engine with factory output of 195 hp (143 kW) and 166 lb-ft (225 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. It sits on 14″ wheels wrapped in 205/70VR14 BFGoodrich Comp T/A 70V tires.

The car is finished in black and is in good condition. It is equipped with a steel body, plexiglass headlight covers, flush front turn signal lenses, amber rear turn signal lenses, a driver-side mirror, a rear-mounted antenna, quad ANSA exhaust outlets, aluminum front hood, vacuum ATE disc brakes, coilover shock absorbers , and anti-roll bars at the front and rear.

Inside, the seats are upholstered in black with red accents, and the same combination can be seen on the door panels. The steering wheel is wrapped in black leather, behind which there is a five-digit odometer that shows 75,852 kilometers. Additional equipment includes black carpeting covered by floor mats with red prancing-horse logos, black perforated headliner, a gated shifter, roll-up windows, and headrests mounted to the seatbacks.

This example is one of 500 from the M series and one of 69 that was originally finished in Verde Germoglio. A month ago, the owner had the vehicle serviced, which included cleaning of the carburetors, a rebuild of the starter, fluid changes, and replacement of the water pump, crankshaft rear spigot bearing, rear oil seal, and battery. Also, the clutch release bearing retaining clip, flywheel, starter ring gear, and flywheel bolts, washers, and dowel were replaced.

The car comes with a Marcel Massini report, a copy of Matthias Bartz’s Dino Compendium, service invoices, and a clean Arizona title.

The auction ends on September 6 and the current highest bid is $250,000 USD.

1998 Subaru Impreza 22B sold for £480,500 GBP

Recently, cars have been fetching high numbers at auctions, especially when it comes to examples owned by famous people. Such was the case with this 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B sold for £480,500.

Subaru Impreza 22B was owned by British driver and World Rally Championship Drivers’ title winner, Colin McRae. Colin died in 2007, and in his career he achieved 25 victories and 42 podiums.

Subaru delivered this Impreza 22B to McRae in November 1998, one of three prototypes of the rally-inspired limited edition model. After that, 399 cars were produced for the Japanese market alone, 16 for the UK market and five for the Australian market.

The car is powered by a 2.2-liter EJ22 turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a factory 276 hp (206 kW). The reason for the small number of horsepower is the Gentleman’s Agreement between all Japanese car manufacturers including Toyota, Nissan, Subaru and Mitsubishi to limit all JDM production cars to 280bhp and 180kmh in order to reduce road fatalities. Subaru modified the gearbox, clutch, drive shaft, brakes and suspension to make the car as close as possible to the WRC model. It has only 11,802 km on the odometer.

The 22B was very successful for Subaru’s WRC team, winning three constructors’ titles in 1995, 1996 and 1997. This most desirable Subarus in the world comes with an aftermarket exhaust system, and the buyer got the original exhaust system as well as the original tires.
