The sustainability of electric vehicles is more than just switching to batteries

At the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), Mercedes will use it to present the concept of an electric delivery van that improves the environment, the Mercedes Sustaineer model.

The van has particle filters in the front and in the chassis with which it purifies the air regardless of the speed of movement. It is equipped with ceramic-coated discs to reduce the amount of dust in the air and limit brake wear, as well as other environmentally friendly technology.

It is equipped with solar panels on the roof to reduce the need for plug-in charging and increase range, an energy-saving heating system, cameras that monitor road conditions, digital mirrors that offer a better view, as well as biologically active light that keeps the driver awake thanks to lighting similar to daylight.

Inside, the cabin compartment is made of natural straw. Mercedes has also reduced noise pollution thanks to quiet electric drive, low-resistance tires and muffled automatic doors.

The vehicle is currently in the form of a concept, whether it will enter the production phase is currently unknown.

New Skoda Superb

From the Czech car manufacturer Skoda, a new generation of Superb models is coming soon.

Recently, the first official sketches of the new Superb model appeared, according to which Kolesa magazine made renderings of its possible appearance. It seems like the new model could keep a proven look. The car will have a lower roofline and wide and thin taillights.

Exterior design coordinator Petr Matusinec said earlier this year that the new Superb will follow an evolutionary approach when it comes to the exterior. The first sketches showed similar proportions and design lines as with the model that is still available in salons.

European customers recognize the practicality of the Skoda models, compared to the competition. The new Superb will be slightly larger than its predecessor, to leave enough market space for the current Octavia.

Prototypes with a production body and headlights are expected soon, and when they appear on the road, we’ll probably have an even clearer picture of what to expect from the new D-segment model.

The new Skoda Superb is intended for the European market, and the arrival is expected in 2023.

The future look of the Yugo

Macedonian designer Dejan Hristov, on his Behance profile, publishes his predictions of what some cars might look like nowadays. One of the predictions relates to the future look of one of the popular cars in the former Yugoslavia, the Yugo.

Many will say the Yugo is the worst car ever. They may be right, but this car isn’t made for front pages. The Yugo is a working class car, and as such it had one task, to transport you from one place to another.

It all started in 1980 when the first copy of this car, the Yugo 45, came off the factory lines. Although below average quality and without additional equipment, the Yugo was sold in 800,000 copies. During its 28 years of existence, it was also sold on the North American market from 1985 to 1991. The price was less than $ 4,000, making it the cheapest car in America.

Dejan Hristov’s vision is an electric Yugo and he wants to turn his idea into reality. In one of his statements, Dejan Hristov said:

“Considering that the components for the first Yugo were produced throughout the former Yugoslavia, it is possible that Rimac Automobili from Croatia will take part in the project.”

Whether his vision will become a reality remains to be seen.
