Infiniti has officially canceled the Q60 Project Black S, which was reportedly headed by former Infiniti boss Roland Krueger. With 563 hp it was supposed to use Formula One technology.
Although it never came into production, Infiniti spokesman Kyle Bazemore said “The concept continues to inspire us.”
The Q60 had a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine and a 4.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. It produced 563 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. It was supposed to accelerate from 0 – 62 mph in less than 4 seconds. Only two prototypes of this model have been produced.
“I would much rather see something like the QX60 [crossover]. That’s a volume vehicle, that’s where this company needs to go,” Ed Lennon, the Infiniti National Dealer Advisory Board chairman, told Automotive News.
