The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) released data on the business results of the South Korean company KIA in April, reaching a market share of 5.7 percent. The results include the EU, EFTA and UK markets.
Published results show that KIA achieved the same record result as at the beginning of the year, and is currently in fifth place when it comes to sales. In April, for the first time, 47,725 Kia vehicles were registered, which is 12.5% more than in the same period last year. This is primarily the result of an overall reduction in the vehicle market (20.2%).
“Last month, the European car market saw a drop in sales, while Kia’s sales grew both in terms of volume and market share. The latest data show that Kia is the fastest growing brand in the EU this year. Today’s customers have a really wide choice, but Kia owners recognize the role of our exceptional offer in enabling a more sustainable future. In April, more than a third of our total sales were electrified models. As our electrified offer expands, and we continue to expand our offer in the area of sharing mobility, Kia will truly create an ‘inspiring movement,’ “said Kia Europe President Jason Jeong.
When it comes to models, the highest demand was for the Sportage (8,368 vehicles sold), the Ceed (7,995 vehicles – including the Ceed, XCeed, Ceed Sportswagon and ProCeed) and the electric Niro (6,735 vehicles). The plan is to offer 14 electric cars by 2027, and to become a fully electric brand by 2035.
