The new Formula E season has another safety car. It is a Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which will make its debut in the first race in Saudi Arabia at the end of January.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is powered by two electric motors with a total power of 761 hp (560 kW) and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque. It reaches 62 mph in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 161 mph (260 km / h). This is more than enough power to keep up with the second generation of electric Formulas that are slightly faster than Porsche’s first electric-only model. It is equipped with 21-inch wheels wrapped in 265/35 ZR21 101Y XL (front) and 305/30 ZR21 104Y XL (rear) tires.
The car is painted in the colors of the teams participating in this year’s season. It is equipped with all the necessary signal signs and race control systems.
Besides Taycan Turbo S, currently in Formula E are used as safety cars BMW i8 Coupé, BMW i8 Roadster and Mini.
The season begins with the first race on January 28 in Saudi Arabia and ends on August 14 in South Korea.
