In this season’s World Rally Championship, Hyundai will compete with a hybrid i20 N WRC model that, in combination with an electric motor, will deliver 500 hp.
The car will be powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 366 hp (269 kW) combined with an electric motor with 134 hp (98 kW), so drivers will have 500 hp (368 kW) available for a limited time. The car is equipped with a 3.9 kWh battery. Power will be transmitted to all wheels via a five-speed transmission.
The hybrid i20 N WRC weighs 1,260 kg, which is 70 kilograms more than the model used by Hyundai last season. In this way, Hyundai has offered an answer to the electrification of the WRC car that was announced last year, and will be applied from this year’s World Rally Championship, which starts on January 20 in Monte Carlo.
