Recently, David Coulthard drove a Formula 1 car (legally) through the streets of Leipzig unlike others who illegally drive Formula GP2 on the highway. It’s a Tyrrell F1 car, in Red Bull Racing colors, with a V10 engine and two seats, and the second passenger was RB Leipzig footballer Emil Forsberg.
“This was an incredible experience for me, I drove through the streets of Leipzig with David Coulthard in a Formula 1 car. Maybe this is something that can be experienced only once in a lifetime. The feeling and the sound of the car is madness,” said Forsberg.
Red Bull is currently doing a worldwide promotion, and before Coulthard, world F1 champions Max Verstappen did the same when he drove artist Fabio Wibmer at the Red Bull Ring. However, Max is still a driver in the Formula 1 championship so Coulthard took over the role of two-seater driver. For those who don’t know, Red Bull is a sponsor of RB Leipzig (RB- Red Bull).
Red Bull has booked a Tyrrell F1 car for the whole year. The car is powered by a V10 engine with around 750 hp, which is not even close to the current F1 cars that deliver around 1,050 hp, but it is more than the 620 hp that a Formula GP2 car has.
The driver and the footballer stopped at several popular locations in Leipzig, accompanied by the Minardi technical team.
