According to the data, 20 children died as a result of heat stroke in a car in the United States this year, and a record 53 in 2018 and 2019. It is clear why the public is asking, and manufacturers are increasingly installing a rear-seat reminder system. The Genesis GV70 has made a breakthrough by expanding the function of the reminder system.

In addition to the classic driver reminder to check the rear seat, the Genesis GV70 also has a radar sensor that monitors the space in the rear seat. If it notices any movement while the car is parked, an alarm will sound and the lights and turn signals will flash. The sensor is so sensitive that it can detect the movement of the child’s chest due to breathing, for example while sleeping in a seat.

To reduce the possibility of such cases to a minimum, Genesis has equipped the GV70 with a dual alarm. Each time the engine is switched off, the system informs the driver of the need to inspect the rear seat. If the system detects any movement inside the vehicle, the alarm will be activated.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says most deaths of children in a car, caused by heat stroke, occur through carelessness. The most common case is when adults forget a child in the car.

There are many reasons that cause this behavior in adults. This most often happens on days when parents, for some reason, change their routine and are unaware of the new obligation. Also, lack of sleep in parents can easily cause forgetfulness and confusion.
