The Hungarian Grand Prix brought a lot of excitement. It all started with a rainy start and a big accident. Already the first turn brought the mistake of Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas who hit the back of a Lando Norris (McLaren) car. This caused contacts of several other drivers, which caused the end of the race for drivers of Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull, Ferrari and Aston Martin.
In the continuation of the race, a lot of overtaking and outwitting was seen between the drivers. The race ended with the first victory of Alpine driver Esteban Ocon. But that was not the end. The biggest excitement and surprise happened after the race.
According to the rules, after the race, each car should have more than one liter of fuel in its tank. Each liter less would allow 0.035 seconds faster laps, making drivers uneven. That was not the case with the car of the Aston Martin driver, Sebastian Vettel. The judges managed to take only 0.3 liters of fuel from the car’s tank.
The violation of the rules led to Vettel’s disqualification, although Aston Martin boss Otmar Szafnauer filed an appeal. Aston Martin claimed that there were 1.44 liters in the car, but the appeal was rejected. This led to a new order on the list. Alpine driver Esteban Ocon finished first, while Mercedes and Ferrari drivers Luis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz took second and third place.
