Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55

The Affalterbach-based company AMG is celebrating its 55th birthday with a special version of the immortal G-Class, the Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55.

It all started in 1967 when AMG (as AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH) started tuning Mercedes cars on its own. 32 years later, it became part of the large Mercedes-Benz family, taking on the task of creating the most powerful and fastest models with a three-pointed star.

Owners of the Edition 55 will be able to choose between Obsidian black and Opalite white body colors. A decal on the lower portion of the doors has a stylized AMG emblem, while the AMG Night Package / Night Package II brings a lot of dark accents. Inside, the seats are upholstered in red Nappa leather with contrasting black details, while the dashboard, armrest and steering wheel are upholstered in black leather.

The Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55 is powered by a 4-liter biturbo V8 engine with 585 hp (430 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to all wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Weighing 2,485 kilograms, it reaches 62 mph in 4.5 seconds with a maximum electronically limited speed of 137 mph (220 km / h). It is mounted on 22-inch reinforced aluminum rims.

The car can be ordered until the end of October this year.

Refreshed Mercedes-AMG GT63 and GT63 S

Following the redesign of the GT43 and GT53 sports models with a six-cylinder engine, Mercedes-AMG has this time decided to refresh the 4-Door Coupe versions of the GT63 and GT63 S. Both models are powered by a V8 engine.

The exterior of the car has not changed much. Customers can choose from four new matte body colors and four new metallic shades, as well as Spectral Blue Metallic and Spectral Blue Magno. Inside, there are several new interior colors and an AMG Performance multifunction steering wheel.

The powerful GT63 S is powered by a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine with 639 hp (470 kW) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque, while the GT63 model has 585 hp (430 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. Both models are mounted on a specially made 21-inch set of forged AMG rims.

As a reminder, at the top of AMG’s offer for the GT 4-Door Coupé remains the PHEV version 63 S E Performance, which is powered by a V8 engine with 843 hp (620 kW) and 1,033 lb-ft (1,400 Nm) of torque. That’s enough for the car to reach 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph (316 km / h).

The starting price for the refreshed AMG GT 4-Door Coupé with V8 engine is $ 174,000 (€ 158,163), and the first examples in European showrooms should appear in April.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan available only in the new generation

If you want to order a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, you only have one month left, because from the end of March this option will not be available in Germany. The reason for this decision is the delay in the delivery of the semiconductors, which caused the extension of the waiting list. This does not apply to all models, because the caravan version will be offered by the middle of 2023.

Earlier, Daimler CEO Ola Kallenius hinted in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, saying: “Demand is huge at Mercedes-Benz and at the same time there are unfortunately severe limitations. For some models the waiting times are longer than we would like, in some cases over a year. “

Mercedes-Benz is not giving up on the E-Class sedan, as for the end of this year Mercedes has announced the arrival of a new generation E-Class (W214), as a 2023 model. The sixth generation brings with it many improvements. Rumor has it that the CLE should come with it as a replacement for the E-Class Coupe and Convertible.

When it comes to powertrain, the new generation E-Class will use four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines. Rumor has it that the most powerful AMG E63 version will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor.
