BMW Vision Driving Experience equipped with “Heart of Joy”

The BMW Vision Driving Experience is an electric car that will debut at the Shanghai Motor Show, and is equipped with the Heart of Joy computer that will be in all future Neue Klasse cars.

Heart of Joy is a system that is 10 times faster than the previous control unit, which increases the precision and stability of future BMW cars in cornering. This system combines control of the drive, brakes, regeneration, charging and steering, which also allows for more efficient use of energy.

BMW has announced that it will not produce this system but will use it as a test platform for new technologies, and a special focus will be on whether the electronics can withstand 18,000 Nm of torque.

The prototype demonstrates the operation of the Heart of Joy computer using colors on the rims, where acceleration is shown in green, energy recovery in blue, and braking with friction brakes in orange. It should also be noted that BMW claims that the advanced regenerative braking system improves efficiency by 25 percent, and in most situations mechanical brakes may not be needed at all.

All-electric BMW M3 coming in 2028

In May, BMW unveiled a redesigned version of its high-performance car, the M3, and now the Bavarian manufacturer is announcing the arrival of the first all-electric M3. It will debut in three years and will be built on the Neue Klasse platform.

The BMW M3 has been produced with every generation of the 3 Series since the E30 M3 debuted in 1986. 40 years later, the BMW M division is still producing the M3 (G80), which is also offered as a station wagon for the first time (G81). It is powered by a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder biturbo engine that in the most powerful CS version offers 550 hp. The new generation is coming in three years and will still be powered by a combustion engine.

BMW has released the first official photos of a camouflaged prototype that somewhat shows what the first all-electric M3 will look like.

At the 2023 IAA MOBILITY, BMW presented a concept with a vision of the future that pays respects to the past, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse. With this concept, the Bavarian manufacturer started the era of individual mobility. And while many thought that the Neue Klasse concept would include only all-electric cars, the Bavarian company thinks otherwise.

At the Paris Motor Show, BMW design director Adrian van Hooydonk stated that the Neue Klasse will also include future models powered by combustion engines assisted by various hybrid systems. “With the Neue Klasse concept, we are embarking on the largest investment in the history of the company. We are not only writing the next chapter of BMW, we are also writing a whole new book,” said Frank Weber, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

BMW Neue Klasse will also include new ICE cars

In 2023, BMW began the story of a new era of individual mobility with the Vision Circular and Vision Dee concepts. And while many thought that the Neue Klasse concept would include only all-electric cars, the Bavarian company thinks otherwise.

At the recent Paris Motor Show, BMW design director Adrian van Hooydonk stated that the Neue Klasse will also include future models powered by internal combustion engines assisted by various hybrid systems.

“With the Neue Klasse concept, we are embarking on the largest investment in the history of the company. We are not only writing the next chapter of BMW, we are also writing a whole new book,” said Frank Weber, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

The first production model from the Neue Klasse should be presented before the end of next year, and in Munich they say that by 2029 they will have at least five Neue Klasse models on offer, among which will be two SUVs and the next generation of the 3 Series, including the new M3 .

In September, BMW presented the Vision Neue Klasse concept, a car with a focus on clean vision with sharp and clean lines, which provides a new experience, creating an insight into the new future.
