1961 Porsche 356B Coupe is up for auction

In 1959, Porsche introduced the second version of its first production car, the Porsche 356B, which was produced until 1963. They are highly desirable among Porsche fans, especially those in excellent condition. One such, modified in 356 GT style, 1961 Porsche 356B Coupe is up for auction.

This 356B Coupe is powered by a replacement 1,720 cc flat-four engine, and the work was done by Markham Motor Works. Twin Solex carburetors and a full-flow oil filter were installed, the electrical system was converted to 12 volts, and the wiring harness and fuse box were replaced. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Type 741 four-speed manual transmission. It is mounted on silver 15″ alloy wheels wrapped in 195/65 Goodyear Eagle Sport tires.

The car is finished in shade of gray, properly maintained and is in excellent condition. It is equipped with plexiglass vent, door, rear-quarter, and rear window glass, Xenon headlights and left fender-mounted mirror, leather hood strips, dual exhaust vents, and a front sway bar and aftermarket shocks at each corner, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, and brake lines replace the original four-wheel drum brake system.

Inside, Speedster-style seats are upholstered in tan leather, while gray leather covers the door panels, upper dashboard and rear seats. A fire extinguisher is mounted between the seats. In front of the driver is a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel behind which is a five-digit odometer showing 4,770 miles. Additional equipment includes latch-and-link lap belts, leather window pulls, Porsche crests embroidered on the seat backs, drilled pedals, and a Custom Autosound stereo stored in the lockable glovebox.

The car comes with refurbishment photos and records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean California title in the seller’s name that lists the vehicle as a 1960 model year.

The auction ends on August 31st and the current highest bid is $90,000 USD.

1962 Porsche 356B 1600 Super 90 Cabriolet is for sale

Every now and then we come across a Porsche 356, the first production car from the German manufacturer, that is for sale. Some of them are in bad condition but can be a good project. However, there are some that are in pretty good condition and that is the case with this 1962 Porsche 356B 1600 Super 90 Cabriolet that is up for auction.

The Porsche 356B is powered by a 1.6-liter Super flat-four with a factory output of 86 hp (63 kW) @ 5500 rpm and 89 lb-ft (120 Nm) of torque @ 4300 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox. It should be noted that the fuel tank, rear muffler, and starter were replaced six years ago, while the rear pulley seal, fuel filter, and clamps were replaced last month. It sits on silver-finished 15” wheels wrapped in 185-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

This car is finished in black and is in pretty good condition, with the owner reporting minor damage such as a few dents, scratches and peeling chrome parts. It was fully restored in the mid-80s, and six years ago the car was equipped with a replacement black soft top, Sonnenland black boot cover, body-color bumpers, fog lights, a driver’s mirror, twin engine grilles with badges, aftermarket LED taillight bulbs, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper, and four-wheel drum brakes.

Inside, the seats are trimmed in red leather that also covers the door panels and the upper part of the dashboard. There is also a three-spoke steering wheel behind which is a five-digit odometer that shows 70,416 miles. Additional equipment includes a heater, a locking glove box, an adjustable rearview mirror, Coco Mats, a cigarette lighter, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/SW radio, and door pockets. A four-way flasher switch has been added under the dashboard.

This Porsche 356B Super 90 comes with a copy of the Kardex, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, refurbishment photos, spare parts, a tool kit, and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.

The auction ends on August 28 and the current highest bid is USD $125,000.

1963 Porsche 356B Cabriolet is for sale

It has been 75 years since Porsche began to conquer the market and the hearts of car enthusiasts. It all started with the first production car, the Porsche 356, which was produced in several versions, and at the beginning of the 60s, the model 356B was presented. It was produced until 1963, and one of them, the 1963 Porsche 356B Cabriolet is for sale.

The Porsche 356B is powered by a 1,600cc flat-four engine with dual Weber carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a replacement four-speed manual gearbox. It sits on chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels, with Porsche-logo hubcaps, wrapped in 165-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

This 356B is finished in Ivory and is in good condition. It is equipped with a black soft top, body-color bumpers with overriders, dual mirrors, a Lietz luggage rack, a passenger-side fender-mounted Reutter badge, rocker trim, Super 90 rear badging, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear overriders. It should be noted that the car had an accident ten years ago and since then the left headlight bucket, driver’s door skin, and windshield have been replaced.

Inside, the seats are covered with tan leather, which also covers the door panels, the upper part of the dashboard and the steering wheel. Additional equipment includes a height-adjustable rearview mirror, RJS Racing Equipment safety belts, a locking glove box, and a Becker Europa push-button radio. The VDO clock is inoperable. The five-digit odometer shows 4,020 miles (total mileage is unknown).

The car comes with a copy of the Kardex, correspondence from Porsche Cars North America, service records, a tool kit and jack, spare parts, 356 workshop manual, manufacturer’s literature, and a Virginia title in the seller’s name.

The auction ends on August 14, and the current highest bid is USD $85,356.
