For the South Korean company Hyundai, the sky is no longer the limit. This company is working intensively on the development of an autonomous flying taxi Supernal, whose first flight should take place by 2028.
It is a four- or five-seat aircraft concept, to be developed by a US-based Supernal company. The aircraft will have the ability to take off and land vertically and should improve urban transport. This zero-emission flying taxi will be powered by electric motors, while hydrogen fuel cell propulsion can be expected in the future.
According to Jaiwon Shin, an aeronautics engineer, the flying Supernal taxi will be able to cover the trip from Los Angeles to Anaheim in about 25 minutes.
Hyundai unveiled its first eVTOL SA-1 concept at CES in Las Vegas last year. Supernal has been building an eVTOL aircraft landing hub in Coventry since last year with Urban-Air Port, which should be in use from 2022.
