Tesla Model 3 will cover 9,500 miles using solar panels

To encourage people to care about the environment and climate change, scientists in Australia are trying to cover a distance of about 9,500 miles by car using solar panels. It is part of the Charge Around Australia project, and the panels will be mounted on the Tesla Model 3.

The car will use 18 printed solar panels and their inventor Paul Dastoor said: “This is actually an ideal test in which we will get information on how we can use and power technology in other remote locations, such as space.” This seeks to test not only the durability of the panels but also their potential performance for other applications.

The material used to make the panels also plays an important role. It is a PET plastic used to make wine labels, and costs less than $ 8 per square meter.

The project will last 84 days, and during the trip they will visit 70 schools to introduce students to environmental protection and what the future holds. Dastoor also said that he hopes that by using the panel for charging an electric car, he will motivate Australians to think about electric vehicles.

A mechanical issue on Tesla Model 3 caused the death of one person

Recently, more and more Tesla vehicles are involved in traffic accidents. One such happened recently when Tesla Model 3 suddenly stopped on the highway, causing a collision of several vehicles, which resulted in the death of one person.

The accident happened on I-70 Highway east of Kansas City. According to a police report, the Model 3 stopped suddenly, after which two oncoming cars hit the vehicle. For now, there is no information on what could be the cause of the Tesla Model 3 shutdown. Some information says that a mechanical issue could be the reason for the loss of power and stopping.

U.S. authorities recently launched an investigation following reports of a braking problem that occurred on a number of Tesla cars. According to some owners, their cars unexpectedly activated the brakes for no reason.

Tesla has faced major vehicle problems in the past, such as a safety problem earlier this year. Then 19-year-old David Colombo announced on his twitter profile that he used API keys and third-party software to gain access to Tesla’s vehicles. “Regarding what I’m able to do with these Tesla’s now. This includes disabling Sentry Mode, opening the doors / windows and even starting Keyless Driving. I could also query the exact location, see if a driver is present and so on The list is quite long. I think it’s pretty dangerous, if someone is able to remotely blast music on full volume or open the windows / doors while you are on the highway. Even flashing the lights non-stop can potentially have some (dangerous ) impact on other drivers, “Colombo said.

Tesla will disable “Passenger Play” while driving

Following the launch of the NHTSA investigation due to the suspicion that its Autopilot caused a number of traffic accidents, Tesla also found itself under investigation due to its “Passenger Play” option. This option was recently introduced, and according to the Associated Press, the option will be disabled because it is against the driver’s safety regulations.

The investigation was launched by NHTSA, after which Tesla announced that the use of “Passenger Play” will be possible only in vehicles that are not in motion.

“The Vehicle Safety Act prohibits manufacturers from selling vehicles with defects posing unreasonable risks to safety, including technologies that distract drivers from driving safely,” the NHTSA stated.

Software changes will be made to nearly 600,000 Tesla vehicles, such as the Model X, Model Y, Mode 3 and Model S. The “Passenger Play” option could be accessed after a security warning. But since the software could not determine if it was a driver or a passenger, it could lead to abuse.

“Following the opening of a preliminary evaluation of Tesla’s‘ Passenger Play, ’Tesla informed the agency that it is changing the functionality of this feature. In a new software update, ‘Passenger Play’ will now be locked and unusable when the vehicle is in motion, “reports the Associated Press.
