Tesla will disable “Passenger Play” while driving

Following the launch of the NHTSA investigation due to the suspicion that its Autopilot caused a number of traffic accidents, Tesla also found itself under investigation due to its “Passenger Play” option. This option was recently introduced, and according to the Associated Press, the option will be disabled because it is against the driver’s safety regulations.

The investigation was launched by NHTSA, after which Tesla announced that the use of “Passenger Play” will be possible only in vehicles that are not in motion.

“The Vehicle Safety Act prohibits manufacturers from selling vehicles with defects posing unreasonable risks to safety, including technologies that distract drivers from driving safely,” the NHTSA stated.

Software changes will be made to nearly 600,000 Tesla vehicles, such as the Model X, Model Y, Mode 3 and Model S. The “Passenger Play” option could be accessed after a security warning. But since the software could not determine if it was a driver or a passenger, it could lead to abuse.

Parisian taxi company G7 has withdrawn its fleet of Tesla Model 3

After one person lost his life and 20 were injured in a car accident over the weekend, Parisian taxi company G7 withdrew its Tesla Model 3 fleet.

The incident involved a driver who was not during working hours and who was driving towards the restaurant in a car with his family. According to French media, the car hit two pedestrians, then a traffic light and a van. Tesla’s autonomous technology seems to have failed this time. Tesla rejected the possibility of a technical problem with the car after checking all the data. Prosecutors have launched an investigation into the charge of murder and unintentional injury.

The company has previously been criticized for deception because its technology cannot automatically drive a car, but drivers must maintain control and attention at all times.

What is Tesla’s responsibility in this case, we do not know. In the past, it was known that users often abused the system by using mobile phones, changing seats or driving without a driver behind the wheel.

Earlier this year, the American authorities opened an official investigation into Autopilot after 11 accidents in which Tesla cars have been involved since 2018.

The best-selling cars in Europe in September 2021

Slowly but surely, electric cars are taking over the market. Although the lack of microchips slows down their delivery, this obviously does not prevent customers from buying electric cars. According to the data, out of the total number of registered electric cars in September in Europe, 24,591 units are Tesla Model 3.

Compared to September 2020, Tesla recorded a growth of 58 percent, selling 6,327 units more than the second best-selling car (Renault Clio). Also, the Tesla Model 3 reached number one in September thanks to a better sales campaign, compared to 17th place in August when only 7,827 units were sold.

Obviously, government incentives for electric vehicles and Net Zero strategies, have a positive impact on the growth in popularity of electric cars. The American car rental company Hertz, recently ordered 100,000 Tesla cars in order to increase the number of its electric vehicles in America.
