When the Tesla Model 3 was introduced in 2017, the company hoped that it would bring success, but they had no idea that it would take only 3 years for it to become the best-selling electric car ever. It is Tesla’s main product and is still the cheapest car in the offer of this American manufacturer.
Back in 2006, Musk announced the Model 3 as likely to be affordable by most people able to purchase new cars. It arrived with an acceptable price very close to conventional cars and without limitations in terms of autonomy and charging speed. Just seven days after its premiere, Tesla received 325,000 reservations, bringing in a potential revenue of US$14 billion.
In the middle of 2017, the first car left the production lines, and it took only a year to reach a weekly production of 5,000 cars, and three years later, the millionth copy of the Tesla Model 3 left the production line. It was an impressive result.
Despite the problems Tesla had in the past, such as mechanical issues or safety issues, the company still managed to maintain its place as one of the leaders in the electric car market. They continued to invest in a new production plant in Europe and an ecological paradise next to the Giga Texas plant that will have the capacity to produce 500,000 vehicles a year.
