The American company AM General has presented the HUMVEE 4-CT. It is a concept based on the HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) military vehicle that brings greater safety, ergonomics and adaptation to modern threats on the battlefield.
The vehicle is equipped with the Kongsberg Protector SR4 combat module and the Axon Dedrone OnTheMove anti-drone system, which increases the chances of survival in the event of an attack, as drones are gaining an increasing role in combat. Some body changes have also been made, such as a new hood, front bumper and headlights.
The HUMVEE 4-CT has received the MARS (MBrace and RollTek System), a special seat that minimizes the risk of injury in the event of a mine explosion or vehicle rollover. MARS works in such a way that at the moment of an attack, it tightens the seat belts and activates the side airbags.
It is powered by a 6.5-liter turbocharged V8 diesel engine with 190 hp and 515 Nm of torque at 1,700 rpm, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case (high: 1:1, low: 2.72:1). The drivetrain includes front and rear hypoid differentials with a 3.08:1 ratio, ensuring effective power distribution and optimized traction on rough terrain.
The company has not announced whether this vehicle is a completely new model or an improved version of the HMMWV. Either way, it is certain that it will soon enter service because the demand for combat equipment around the world is very high.
