The new all-electric Fiat 600

The new all-electric Fiat 600

After discontinuing the production of the Fiat 600 more than a decade ago, the Italian car manufacturer Fiat has unveiled an electric successor to the popular city car.

At first glance, the exterior design resembles the electric model 500e. However, the new Seicento, which is 4.17 meters long, brings with it an airy and spacious passenger cabin for five people as well as a luggage space of 360 liters. Inside, the 7-inch digital instrument panel and 10.25-inch display stand out.

When it comes to the powertrain, the car will be powered by an electric motor with 156 hp (115 kW), which is enough for the crossover to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9 seconds. Also, a hybrid version was announced, which should be available from the middle of next year.

The new Fiat 600 is equipped with a 54 kWh battery, which is sufficient for a range of over 400 kilometers, while when used only in the city, one charge should provide more than 600 kilometers. It takes less than 30 minutes to charge the battery up to 80 percent on 100-kilowatt chargers.

The price could be a negative surprise considering that this city car costs 35,950 euros, and in combination with the La Prima equipment package, 40,950 euros. That’s significantly more expensive than the Nissan Leaf, which costs around 25,000 euros.
