1956 Continental Mark II is up for auction

In 1955, an ultra-luxury coupé that was sold by the Continental Division (Ford) appeared on the American market. It was the only product line ever marketed by Continental during its existence. It was produced until 1967, and 2,994 cars were produced. One of them, a 1956 Continental Mark II is up for auction.

The Continental Mark II is powered by a 368ci Y-block V8 engine with 285 hp (210 kW) and 402 lb-ft (545 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a three-speed Turbo-Drive automatic transmission. It is mounted on 15″ steel wheels wrapped in Coker Classic whitewall radial tires.

This car is finished in black and is in good condition. It is equipped with a hood ornament, stainless steel trim, dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper, a tail light on the driver’s side that moves to reveal the fuel tank, and one-year air intakes to feed the air conditioning system on the rear bumpers.

Inside, the front and rear bench seats are covered in cream leather with red inserts. In front of the driver is a three-spoke steering wheel and a five-digit odometer showing 7,560 miles. Additional equipment includes red carpets, a power-adjustable front seat, electric front and rear windows, a Town & Country AM radio, anodized dash trim, aircraft-style auxiliary controls, front lap belts, and a Continental plaque on the center tunnel.

The car comes with factory literature, recent service records, and a clean California title.

The auction ends on March 6 and the current highest bid is $42,000 USD.
