1961 Ferrari 250 GTE is for sale

In 1952, Ferrari presented its new sports car, the Ferrari 250. It was produced until 1964 and was offered in many variants designed for road use or sports car racing. Between 1960 and 1963, 954 units of the Ferrari 250 GTE were produced. It was clothed by Pininfarina and was elegant and ideally suited to the more discerning Ferrari customer. One of them, a 1961 Ferrari 250 GTE is for sale.

The Ferrari 250 GTE is powered by a 3.0-liter Tipo 128F V12 engine with a factory output of 232 hp (173 kW) and 181 lb-ft (245 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville overdrive. It reaches 60 mph in 8 seconds with a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). It is mounted on Borrani wire wheels are wrapped in 185R15 Avon tires.

This car is finished in dark gray metallic, and is in good condition. It is equipped with a steel body, aluminum hood and trunk panels, slim inset headlight bezels, grille-mounted driving lights, and chrome Superamerica-style taillight housings, servo-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The car was completely refurbished in four years (2019 – 2022), which included repainting, removing rust on the fenders, quarter panels, wheel wells, and door panels as well as repairs to the nose area, replacing the water pump, repairs to the bell housing and oil pan, and rebuilds of the fuel pump, starter, alternator drive pulley, and timing chain adjuster assembly.

Inside, the seats are covered in red leather that also covers the center tunnel and door panels. In front of the driver is a wood-rimmed steering wheel behind which is a five-digit odometer showing 13,318 kilometers. Additional equipment includes blue-gray Wilton wool carpeting, an ivory-color headliner, a lockable glovebox, a Pininfarina-branded ashtray, and a Becker Grand Prix pushbutton radio.

The car comes with spreadsheets from the 2019-2022 refurbishment, various invoices and registration documents from previous ownerships, an owner’s manual, and a clean California title.

The auction ends on June 24 and the current highest bid is $250,250 USD.
