A small crossover is coming from Wolfsburg, as Volkswagen has announced the arrival of the Nivus on the European market with a different name. It is a VW Taigo that should fill the gap in VW’s offer of small crossovers. In addition to Europe, it is planned to be sold in Turkey and Africa.
The VW Taigo is a more elegant alternative to the T-Cross. The design is very reminiscent of the Nivus with a few interior details from the new Tiguans and Arteons, such as the new climate control settings introduced earlier this year.
With a length of 4.26 meters and a wheelbase of 2,566 mm, the Taigo is longer than the T-Cross model, regardless of the version. With a height (58.6 inches / 1.49 meters) and width (69 inches / 1.75 meters), it is longer, narrower and lower than the T-Roc model.
For the small crossover, VW has stored extremely well equipment such as matrix LED headlights, partial autonomous driving, 18-inch wheels, 9.2-inch touch screen, driver assistance features, and there is quite enough 438 liters of luggage space.
The Tiago comes with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with 95 hp or 110 hp, and a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 150 hp. The engine is paired with a five-speed or six-speed manual transmission and has front-wheel drive. There is also a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
