According to information coming from Japan, Toyota is preparing a new version of the most powerful B-segment car, the Toyota GR Yaris. The company did not confirm information about the car, whose arrival is expected by the end of the year.
The Toyota GR Yaris was premiered in 2020, and is powered by a 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 261 hp (192 kW) and 266 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to all wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. It reaches 62 mph in 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h).
However, according to new information, the new version should be more powerful. It will be powered by the same 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo petrol engine but with 300 hp (221 kW) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. Power will be sent to all wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The new GR Yaris should receive a new bumper design, revised suspension, new brakes and a stiffer body, as well as a larger spoiler and a larger central screen in the cabin.
