2026 Toyota Aygo X

On June 2, Toyota revealed a facelift edition of its Aygo X crossover city car, which was launched three years ago. The compact car is expected to hit European roads by the end of this year.

The facelift edition features a new front grille, narrower headlights, a modified hood, a new GR Sport trim, new alloy wheel designs and disc brakes on the rear wheels. The interior has been modernised with a compact digital display replacing the traditional analogue instruments, and USB-C ports have been added below the climate control unit. The steering wheel now features improved safety controls, and the driver attention monitoring system, which is mandatory in the European Union, has an infrared sensor located on the steering column.

The biggest change is under the hood. The new Aygo X now comes only with a hybrid drive. It is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine combined with an electric motor for a total output of 116 hp, mated to an automatic gearbox. That’s enough power to push the car to 100 km/h in less than 10 seconds, which is significantly faster than its predecessor, which with a 1.0-liter engine and 72 hp reached 100 km/h in 14.9 seconds.

Toyota will produce a GR Sport version with a modified chassis, more aggressive design, sharper steering, and 116 hp.

The price of the car has not yet been announced, but it is expected that the hybrid powertrain could have a big impact on it.
