Fifty years ago, the best Mexican driver ever, Pedro Rodriguez, lost his life in an accident at a race in Germany. In his honor, Porsche produced a special copy of the 911, the Porsche 911 Turbo S “One of a Kind” Pedro Rodriguez.
Pedro Rodriguez has died at the age of 31, and in his rich career he has achieved many victories such as 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona (4 wins), Formula 1 Grand Prix (2 wins) and many others. In one part of his career he was the driver of a Porsche and in his honor they produced this special model.
“Pedro Rodríguez continues to be the Latin American driver who has given Porsche the most triumphs and joy. With this unique car in the world we want to pay tribute to a unique, irreplaceable driver, an idol of the past and a legend of today, ”says George Wills, CEO of Porsche Latin America.
The car was done in the colors used at the time Rodriguez achieved the most victories by driving a Porsche 917 KH.
Director of Porsche Mexico, Camilo San Martin, says: “This configuration, with these specific details and equipment, has been locked in the Porsche configurator, as well as in the production system, so that this car is literally unrepeatable.”
The special Porsche 911 Turbo S is powered by a 650 hp 6-cylinder biturbo boxer engine. It reaches 62 mph in just 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph (330 km / h).
