On July 20, Honda presented the eleventh and last non-hybrid generation Civic Type R. Although the performance of the new Civic Type R has not been revealed, it is now known that the improved engine, from the 10th generation, has 320 horsepower.
The new generation has a longer wheelbase and a wider wheel track compared to its predecessor. It is also equipped with improved suspension and a set of 19-inch rims with slightly wider Michelin tires. Honda is hiding a lot, including the weight of a car that showed its full potential at the beginning of the year during its last tests. On the Suzuka circuit, it was faster than the Civic Type R Limited Edition by 0.8 seconds, setting a lap time of 2:23:1.
The new Honda Civic Type R is powered by an improved 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 320 hp (235 kW) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm). Power is transmitted to the front axle, which will be assisted by a limited differential lock, via a 6-speed manual transmission.
Honda claims that the new Civic Type R is the best so far. We hope that we will not wait long when it will show its capabilities on the famous German track Nürburgring Nordschleife, where it will try to repeat the result of the previous generation, the fastest front-wheel drive car.
