Last year was the most successful in history for Porsche when it comes to sales, with a profit of 6.8 billion euros. According to data for the six months of 2023, Porsche appears to be achieving better sales results.
In the first six months of this year, Porsche delivered a total of 167,354 vehicles to customers worldwide. When it comes to individual markets, Porsche sold the most cars in China (43,832 vehicles), which is an increase of 8 percent. “Value-driven growth is a top priority for Porsche. To achieve that, we are continuing to focus on flexibility as the global economic situation remains challenging. Especially in China, we are striving for a balance of supply and demand in line with our luxury positioning,” said Detlev von Platen .
In North America, 41,937 vehicles were delivered, an increase of 12 percent. In Europe, the highest sales growth of 23 percent was recorded, with 36,574 vehicles delivered, of which 17,118 vehicles were in Germany, which is a growth of 24 percent. In other markets, 27,893 vehicles were delivered, which is a growth of 16 percent.
The highest demand is for SUV models: Porsche Macan 47,755 vehicles (+26 percent), Cayenne 46,884 vehicles (+12 percent), while the legendary 911 model was delivered 26,124 times (+21 percent).
Electric models have seen a drop in sales, primarily due to the current chip crisis that has hit all electric vehicle manufacturers. For example, 17,991 units (-5 percent) of the electric Taycan were sold in the first half of the year.
Other models recorded significant growth: Porsche Panamera 17,565 units (+13 percent), 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman 11,035 units (+13 percent).
We don’t know what to expect from the rest of the year, but 2023 could be a very successful year for Porsche. Maybe with record sales.
