Farnova Automotive Othello

If you think there is no faster production car than Rimac Nevera, think again. Chinese company Farnova Automotive has unveiled a prototype of its supercar, the Othello.

The company was founded two years ago and intends to produce a limited number of this electric hypercar. Othello was built on the platform of Qiantu Motors, which is the result of an agreement between the two companies. Although the same platform was used for the Qiantu K50, the cars are not the same in design and performance.

The Othello is made of lightweight materials, with sharp body lines. It is equipped with a gullwing door, and inside is a simple design with carbon fiber sports seats. The car weighs only 2976 lbs (1,350 kg).

The Othello is powered by two electric motors with a total power of 1,810 hp (1331 kW) and 8,851 lb-ft (12,000 Nm) of torque. It reaches 62 mph in just 1.8 seconds with a top speed of 261 mph (420 km / h). Although it has 100 hp less than the Nevera, it is 0.2 seconds faster. Rimac Nevera reaches 62 mph in 1.97 seconds with a top speed of 258 mph (413 km / h).

Farnova Automotive intends to produce only 200 units of this car at a price of $ 287,578. From next year, Othello will be produced in a newly built plant in Changde. The company said it wants to expand its production to electric crossovers, sedans, SUVs and buses.

Lucid Air Dream Edition with a range of 520 miles

Did Tesla get serious competition in the driving range? Lucid Group Inc. announced that the first Air Dream Edition cars will arrive to their owners in October. The Air Dream Edition is an electric car with a longer range than Tesla. This could pose a major challenge for a market leader whose sales are not as good.

The Newark-based company, with a focus on innovation, luxury and sustainability, has begun production of its long-range sedan. The car will be offered in two versions, Performance and Range, and will be manufactured in Arizona. According to the company, the intention is to increase vehicle production to 90,000 per year.

Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson, a former chief engineer on Tesla’s Model S, said his company’s cars have an advantage when it comes to battery production technology and cost over the Model S.

“We have freed clients from the fear of anxiety about the range of the car. The next big hurdle is the cost-effectiveness of electric cars. We need to cut costs. ”

The Air Dream Edition (Performance) is powered by two electric motors with 1,111 hp (817 kW) and 1,000 + Nm of torque. It reaches 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds with a top speed of 168 mph (270 km / h). The car is driven on 21-inch wheels with specially developed Pirelli P-Zero 245 / 35R (front) and 265 / 35R (rear) tires.

The Air Dream Edition (Range) has slightly less horsepower (933) but provides a range of 520 miles (837 kilometers), which is significantly more than the current leader Tesla Model S with a range of 412 miles (663 kilometers).
