The first fully electric Aston Martin is coming in 2026

Like other car manufacturers, Aston Martin has decided to start producing EVs. In 2026, the first fully electric Aston Martin should arrive on the market.

According to Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers, the company is currently working on improving existing sports models. After the investment pays off, which will take years, the company will switch to electric models. The honor of becoming the first fully electric Aston Martin should go to the successor to the DB11 model.

The company expects that by 2030, half of the Aston Martin models will be electrified. Tobias Moers said that as long as there is interest in cars with internal combustion engines, the company will not give up the offer. Therefore, models with hybrid motors will also be offered, for markets with a reduced number of charging power stations.

For next year, Aston Martin planned to introduce the DBX hybrid model. It will use a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, and will have all-wheel drive. The engine will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. For 2023, plug-in hybrids with a Mercedes-AMG V8 engine will also be offered.

Like Bugatti and Bentley, Aston Martin intends to enter the world of electric vehicle manufacturers.

The future of electric vehicle production

As a long-time leader in electric vehicles, BMW intends to expand its fleet of EVs with four new models in the coming years. At BMW, they emphasized their full commitment to the production of EV.

“We are fully committed to electric cars wherever the use of battery-electric drive trains makes sense, and it is possible because the conditions are right. By 2023 we will offer our customers at least one BEV option in nearly all our vehicle segments and over the next 10 years we aim to release a total of about 10 million fully electric vehicles onto the market, ”said BMW CEO Oliver Zipse.

The first vehicles to be unveiled are the X1 and Series 7, coming in 2022. So far, there is not enough information about the specifications for these models, only it is known where they will be produced (Regensburg and Dingolfing, Germany).

The Electric Series 5 and Mini Countryman are coming in 2023. The Series 5 will be produced in Dingolfing, while the plant in Leipzig is in charge of the Mini Countryman.

By the end of 2025, BMW hopes that EV will account for 25 percent of total sales. Therefore, for 2025, BMW has prepared a Neue Klasse platform that will be used only for EV, although the platform also supports other powertrains.
