BMW i4 production model

The all-electric BMW i4 production model has joined several other models produced by the Bavarian car company in its production facilities.

The electric BMW i4 thus becomes part of a diverse society of models produced at BMW’s parent plant. The management structures of the Bavarian car company emphasize that by 2023, more than half of the cars produced in Munich will be hybrids or fully electrified.

The BMW i4 will be offered in two versions, the eDrive40 and the M50. The BMW i4 eDrive40 is powered by an electric motor with 340 hp (250 kW) and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) of torque. With rear-wheel drive, it reaches 62 mph in 5.5 seconds. It is equipped with an 80.7-kWh battery pack that provides a range of 300 miles (483 kilometers).

The more powerful version of the M50 is powered by two electric motors with a total of 544 hp (397 kW) and 586 lb-ft (795 Nm) of torque. With all-wheel drive, it reaches 62 mph in 3.9 seconds with a maximum electronically limited speed of 140 mph (225 km / h). It is equipped with an 80.7-kWh battery pack that provides a range of 245 miles (394 kilometers).

BMW has already invested more than 200 million euros to modernize the plant, in which, in addition to the existing conventional models powered by internal combustion engines, electric-powered models will also be produced. It has already been announced that the production of four-cylinder engines will move to production plants in Great Britain and Austria by the end of the year.

Increased demand for electric vehicles in Norway

Norway is a country that, through its incentives, has enabled increased demand for electric vehicles. Also, in the next few years, Norway intends to become the first country to stop selling petrol and diesel cars.

Although it is among the 20 largest oil producers, Norway is seeking to increase the number of electric cars on its roads. The goal is 2025, but according to the current demand for electric vehicles, that could happen even earlier.

According to the Norwegian Information Council for the Road Traffic (OFV), 1 in 10 new cars sold in Norway is non-electric. Only 5% use gasoline, and even fewer are diesel-powered.

According to data for this year, only 20% of new cars sold were not electric. This means that sales of electric vehicles in September jumped by 46% compared to September last year, and the best-selling models are the Tesla Model Y and Model 3. The electric Škoda Enyaq broke through to third place. Interestingly, the fourth is the Toyota RAV4, the only hybrid in the Top 10.

Buyers of electric vehicles are exempt from taxes on the purchase and import of vehicles, taxes on roads, and they also have large discounts when paying tolls, parking and ferries.

“The tax is progressive – it depends on the mass, CO2 and NOx emissions, so large vehicles with high emissions become very expensive,” said the Norwegian Automobile Federation.

Mercedes-Benz Vito V300d and all-electric e-Vito

Among the many cars, VanSports has tuned the Mercedes-Benz Vito V300d and all-electric e-Vito vans.

The Vito V300d is equipped with the VP Spirit Aerodynamic Kit. The body is painted in a dark shade of green. The van is equipped with an adjustable suspension that allows 30 mm height lowering in ride, a new front spoiler, a rear apron and double exhaust pipes.

The V300d is powered by a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with an unknown number of horsepower. It rides on 20-inch wheels with 245/40 (front) and 275/35 (rear) tires.

The all-electric e-Vito is equipped with the same VP Spirit MK II kit as the V300d. The body is painted black with blue accents on the front and rear lips, and side skirts. It rides on the same 20-inch wheels with 245/40 (front) and 275/35 (rear) tires as the diesel model. It uses an adjustable suspension that allows 30 mm height lowering in ride, and also has a roof spoiler.

Other performance details, the Mercedes-Benz Vito V300d and e-Vito, are not yet known, nor how much the upgrade will cost.
