Kia’s Next Electric Halo Car: A Sleek Saloon Poised to Succeed the Stinger

Kia looks ready to shake up the performance EV scene again. Fresh teaser images shared on social media point to a swoopy, long-wheelbase electric saloon—one that could pick up where the dearly departed Stinger left off. And if the early visuals are anything to go by, this won’t be just another addition to the brand’s growing EV lineup. It’s shaping up to be a statement car.

At first glance, the proportions tell the story. The nose stretches forward with a cab-forward stance, the roofline flows in a clean arc, and the whole silhouette has a subtle, wind-tunnel-sculpted roundness not seen on Kia’s sharper-edged EVs. The bubble-like roof is particularly striking, hinting at a focus on aerodynamics as much as interior space.

Look closely through the glass and things get even more interesting. Instead of a conventional wheel, the car appears to be equipped with a steering yoke—a strong sign that Kia might use this model to debut steer-by-wire tech. It also ditches traditional side mirrors completely, swapping them for slim camera pods integrated into the rear edges of the daytime running lights, a placement that emphasizes the minimalist exterior while sharpening visibility.

Kia hasn’t confirmed a reveal date or even a name yet. But there are hints. Brand president Ho-sung Song previously acknowledged that a performance-oriented EV positioned like the Stinger GT was under internal study, with the goal of pushing the public’s perception of what Kia can be. A sleek electric flagship would certainly help.

If the brand sticks to its current naming strategy, this new model could land as the EV7 or EV8—slotting squarely between the EV6 crossover and the EV9 SUV. And the real question is this: will it aim to dethrone the EV6 GT as Kia’s speed king? That 641-hp dual-motor beast already delivers ferocious acceleration and even simulates combustion-style power delivery through a multi-speed gearbox for extra engagement.

2026 Cupra Raval — The Small EV With Big Attitude

Cupra has dropped the first official photos of its upcoming electric hatchback, the 2026 Raval, and even though the prototype is still wearing heavy camouflage, the message is loud and clear: this isn’t just another city-friendly EV. It’s a statement piece. And a spicy one at that.

The Raval rides on the Volkswagen Group’s updated MEB+ platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Volkswagen ID. Polo, ID. Cross, and Škoda Epic. All four will be built in Spain, but Cupra isn’t merely borrowing the architecture—it’s leading chassis development for the entire family. That sets expectations high, especially since the brand has become the VW Group’s designated “performance soul.”

Small Footprint, Big Character

At roughly 4 meters long, the Raval sits firmly in the subcompact category, but Cupra doesn’t want you thinking of it as a simple runabout. Engineers dropped the ride height 15 mm compared with other MEB+ models, stiffened the suspension, and fitted progressive steering to give the Raval the sharpness its badge demands.

Adaptive dampers (Cupra’s Dynamic Chassis Control) likely won’t be part of the base package, but the entry version still delivers a 211-hp single front electric motor, which should be more than enough to give lightweight hatchback vibes a proper electrified punch. Battery specs remain under wraps, yet Cupra claims an official range of 450 km—a strong figure for its segment.

Trims and Tech: From Dynamic to VZ

The Raval will launch with multiple trims, starting with the Dynamic model. Step up to Dynamic Plus, and Cupra adds a more premium feature set: additional ADAS, intelligent parking functions, matrix LED headlights, sport seats, and a 12-speaker Sennheiser audio system—a rare flex in its class.

But enthusiasts will be eyeing the VZ, Cupra’s performance-focused trim. Power climbs to 226 hp, and the chassis gets a serious upgrade with an electronic differential, sportier steering calibration, and a 10-mm wider track. The VZ also rolls on standard 19-inch wheels with a distinctive circular-saw design—one of Cupra’s boldest wheel styles yet. Inside, the VZ gets deeper sport seats wrapped in Dinamica material.

There is a trade-off: range drops to 400 km, a penalty that comes with the added performance and larger wheels.

Pricing and Arrival

Cupra plans to open sales in 2026, with the first Raval variants priced from €26,000. More affordable versions—likely using smaller motors—may follow.

The new-look ZL1 doesn’t arrive in a vacuum. Chevrolet shaped the car’s revised styling to align with the recently released Camaro ZL1 Carbon Performance Package—a suite of factory accessories meant to push the sixth-gen production ZL1’s capabilities even further. In typical motorsport-meets-showroom fashion, Chevy worked closely with NASCAR officials and its Cup teams to ensure the updates balanced brand identity with competition legality.

Visually, the changes are hard to miss. The hood gains a larger power dome, giving the car a more aggressive profile while echoing the Carbon Performance Package’s carbon-fiber hood insert. Below it, a reshaped front grille—inspired by the ZL1 1LE’s aero-hungry design—brings a sharper, race-bred look and pairs with a revised splitter to better manage airflow. Along the sides, more pronounced rocker panels mirror the carbon-fiber pieces available to production-car owners, further tightening the connection between the street ZL1 and its NASCAR counterpart.

The result is a Cup car that looks more cohesive with its road-going sibling—and more assertive in the mirrors of anyone trying to hold it off on race day.

Of course, Chevrolet’s track record in NASCAR doesn’t exactly need reinvention. Since 1955, the manufacturer has campaigned 14 different nameplates in the sport’s top series. In that time, it has earned 881 Cup victories, 34 Driver Championships, and an unmatched 44 Manufacturer Championships—including the last five in a row. That dominance cements Chevrolet as the winningest manufacturer in NASCAR Cup history, and the updated 2026 Camaro ZL1 is designed to keep the momentum rolling.
