Geneva International Motor Show postponed again

The organizing committee of the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) has decided to postpone the salon. The salon will not be organized, as previously announced, from 19 to 27 February 2022, but will be postponed to 2023.

According to the official announcement, the decision is in the interest of the producers, exhibitors, but also the audience itself, which leaves no room for alternatives. Travel restrictions on the one hand, but also indirect reasons such as the crisis caused by the shortage of chips, are creating some new priorities for car manufacturers.

The President of the Permanent Committee of the Salon International de l’automobile, Maurice Turrettini said: “Despite all our efforts, we have to face the facts and the reality: the pandemic situation is not under control and presents itself as a big threat for a large indoor event like GIMS. But we see this decision as a postponement, rather than a cancellation. I am confident that the GIMS will come back stronger than ever in 2023. “
