Last month, rumors surfaced of the return of Honda’s first two-door coupe with a moonroof, the Honda Prelude. Now the Japanese automaker has confirmed the rumors by announcing the revival of this model called the Prelude Concept.

The new Prelude has a new design and, except for the name, almost no similarities with its predecessor. The front part is reminiscent of sports cars, thin headlights connected with an LED bar, black side mirrors, a roof line that descends towards the rear part is reminiscent of the design of the Porsche 911 and Hyundai Ioniq 6. The rear part has a black lip spoiler, a black bumper and an LED bar which extends along the entire length.

Honda is still hiding a lot when it comes to the Prelude Concept. Neither the performance of the car nor when it will be premiered are known. What is known so far is that the car is still in the development phase and that it will be fully electric.

“The word “Prelude” means an ‘introductory or preceding performance’. This model will become the prelude for our future models which will inherit the ‘joy of driving’ into the full-fledged electrified future and embody Honda’s unalterable sports mindset,” said CEO Toshihiro Mibe.

Honda has already announced that the company’s long-term plan is to produce a Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCV) lineup by 2040. That may be too late considering that competitors have announced a transition to all-electric cars by 2030.
