Hyundai is giving its electric vehicle owners another reason to rely on public fast charging. Hyundai Motor America has announced a new automatic charging discount that gives eligible Hyundai EV drivers 10% off every charging session at IONNA fast-charging stations across the United States. The program began August 19, 2026, and requires no promo codes or manual discounts.
For a limited time, the savings are even greater. Through September 30, 2026, IONNA is adding a separate 10% bonus discount for eligible Hyundai EVs. When the two discounts are combined, Hyundai drivers can save 20% on qualifying IONNA charging sessions.
The initiative is part of Hyundai’s involvement as a founding partner in IONNA, a high-speed EV charging network established by major global automakers with the goal of expanding reliable and customer-friendly public charging throughout the U.S.
Hyundai EV Owners Automatically Get 10% Off IONNA Charging
The permanent 10% Hyundai discount is designed to make public DC fast charging easier and less expensive for eligible drivers.
There is no coupon to enter and no additional registration process at the charger. The discount is automatically applied when an eligible Hyundai EV owner starts a charging session using Hyundai In-App Charging through the MyHyundai with Bluelink app or through compatible Plug & Charge functionality.
That simplicity is important because public charging remains one of the areas where EV ownership can sometimes feel more complicated than filling up a conventional gasoline-powered vehicle.
Hyundai says the automatic discount is intended to remove another point of friction from the charging experience.
The 10% ongoing discount can also be combined with other eligible IONNA promotional offers, including limited-time and holiday pricing. That gives Hyundai EV owners the possibility of achieving savings beyond the standard discount when additional promotions are available.
Hyundai Owners Can Save 20% Through September 30
The biggest incentive is temporary.
IONNA is automatically adding another 10% discount to qualifying Hyundai charging sessions through September 30, 2026. Combined with Hyundai’s ongoing 10% benefit, eligible customers can receive a total charging discount of 20% during the promotional period.
The additional 10% bonus means the next several weeks could be particularly attractive for Hyundai EV drivers who frequently use public fast chargers.
After September 30, the temporary bonus ends, but the ongoing 10% Hyundai discount remains available for eligible vehicles and charging methods.
How the Hyundai IONNA Charging Discount Works
The process is deliberately straightforward.
Eligible Hyundai EV owners need to initiate their IONNA charging session using Hyundai’s supported charging functionality. That means using Hyundai In-App Charging through the MyHyundai with Bluelink app or a compatible Plug & Charge system.
The key point is that simply plugging an eligible Hyundai EV into an IONNA charger does not necessarily guarantee the discount. The charging session must be initiated through the supported Hyundai charging features.
For drivers, the process works as follows:
- Arrive at an eligible IONNA fast-charging station.
- Connect the compatible Hyundai EV to the charger.
- Start the charging session through Hyundai In-App Charging in the MyHyundai with Bluelink app or use compatible Plug & Charge functionality.
- The eligible discount is automatically applied.
That eliminates the need to enter promotional codes or manually calculate the savings at the charger.
Which Hyundai EVs Qualify?
The initial group of eligible Hyundai electric vehicles includes several of the company’s newest and most important EVs.
Eligible models include:
- Hyundai IONIQ 5 — 2022 model year and newer
- Hyundai IONIQ 5 N — 2025 model year and newer
- Hyundai IONIQ 9 — 2026 model year and newer
- Hyundai KONA Electric — 2025 model year and newer
Hyundai says additional EV models will become eligible as In-App Charging functionality continues to roll out across its lineup.
That could eventually make the benefit available to a substantially larger portion of Hyundai’s electric vehicle customer base.
Genesis EVs Are Also Eligible
The charging benefit isn’t limited to vehicles wearing the Hyundai badge.
Select Genesis electric vehicles equipped with compatible In-App Charging and/or Plug & Charge technology are also eligible for the ongoing 10% IONNA discount.
The currently listed Genesis models are:
- Genesis GV60 — 2026 model year and newer
- Genesis Electrified GV70 — 2026 model year and newer
As with Hyundai vehicles, eligibility depends on the vehicle’s supported charging functionality.
IONNA Is Expanding the U.S. Fast-Charging Network
The discount is also significant because of the network behind it.
IONNA was established by leading automakers as a joint venture intended to create a large, reliable public fast-charging network in the United States. Hyundai is one of the founding partners.
IONNA currently has more than 150 locations, according to the company, with the network designed around high-speed charging and a customer-focused experience.
For EV manufacturers, investments like IONNA are becoming increasingly important. Selling an electric vehicle is only part of the ownership equation. Drivers also need convenient access to dependable charging when traveling beyond the range of their home charging setup.
That makes the charging network itself an increasingly important part of an automaker’s overall EV strategy.
Hyundai Says Charging Confidence Goes Beyond Battery Range
Hyundai Motor North America Senior Vice President of Product Planning and Mobility Strategy Olabisi Boyle argues that the industry’s traditional focus on range anxiety doesn’t tell the whole story.
According to Hyundai, drivers also need confidence that the charging infrastructure will work reliably, that payments will be straightforward and that the overall experience will be predictable.
The automatic IONNA discount addresses one relatively small part of that equation: cost and convenience.
Instead of requiring customers to search for a promotion, enter a code or remember another charging membership rule, the discount is tied directly to supported Hyundai charging functionality.
IONNA CEO Seth Cutler similarly described the Hyundai partnership as a way to provide tangible benefits to EV drivers, with the initial 10% discount available across IONNA’s 150-plus locations.

The financial benefit of a 10% discount will depend on how frequently an owner uses public charging and how much energy is added during each session.
For drivers who primarily charge at home, the benefit may be relatively modest. But for apartment dwellers, long-distance travelers and owners who regularly depend on DC fast charging, a recurring 10% reduction could become meaningful over the course of a year.
The temporary 20% discount makes the proposition even more compelling through September 30.
