Juan Manuel Fangio’s 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster is up for auction

RM Sotheby’s announced the sale of the 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster. It is the personal car of one of the best drivers of all time, Juan Manuel Fangio. The Argentine was a five-time Formula 1 world champion with four different teams (Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, and Maserati), which no one after him managed to achieve.

After announcing his retirement, Mercedes gave Fangio a 300SL Roadster as a gift. The car was driven until 1986 when it was sent to his museum. It is in original condition. Seats, steering wheel, gear lever, etc., nothing has changed, which collectors know to appreciate.

It is one of Fangio’s favorite cars, as evidenced by the fact that it has more than 70,000 km on the odometer. It has been driven in Europe and South America. It is painted in a light blue metallic color reminiscent of the color of the Argentine flag. Inside, the door panels and seats are upholstered in white leather.

The auction of this unique car will take place between February 28 and March 4. It is interesting that the car will be sold in a sealed bid auction, and the final price will not be announced.
