2023 BMW M3 Touring is the fastest wagon on the Nürburgring

The German Nürburgring Nordschleife is considered one of the best test tracks for cars. This is where BMW tested its new model, the M3 Touring, which set the fastest lap time in the station wagon category. It will be premiered on June 23.

After more than three decades, BMW’s response to concepts that competitors have been offering for years is in the final stages of testing. The BMW M3 Touring is not the first wagon to come out of the M department. So far, it has been offered in the Series 5 (E34 and E61), while the attempt based on the Series 3 (E46) in the end remained only a prototype.

When it comes to powertrain, the BMW M3 Touring is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine with 480 hp (353 kW), in the standard version. The more powerful model will have more horsepower, more precisely 510 hp (375 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. It seems that the car will only be offered in combination with all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Let’s go back to the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The BMW M3 Touring achieved a lap time of 7: 35,060 which is ten seconds faster than the Mercedes-AMG E63 S. This is no surprise considering the engine power, as the same engine is used by the M3 and Coupé M4.

According to a statement from the M department, the caravan has achieved the expected, which could mean that a bright future is ahead of it.

Mansory Bentayga Speed Feroza Edition

Germany-based tuner, Mansory, has introduced the Speed Feroza Edition. It is the most powerful version of Bentley’s luxury Bentayga SUV, which now has 900 hp.

The car is painted in turquoise, which is no longer surprising when it comes to the colors used by the tuning company that upgrades cars from 18 different car manufacturers. The same color adorns the interior of the leather-wrapped cockpit with 3D leather embossing and carbon applications.

The car is equipped with a carbon bonnet, a new exhaust system, a repainted ECU and new brakes that hide behind a set of black 24-inch wheels.

What is certainly more interesting in the world of expensive tuning than the choice of color is what is hidden under the carbon black hood of Bentley’s luxury SUV Bentayga Speed, which in the standard edition is powered by one of the last existing W12 engines.

Mansory has made the powerful Bentayga even more powerful, so now the 6-liter biturbo W12 engine develops 900 hp (662 kW) and 922 lb-ft (1,250 Nm) of torque, which is 265 hp more than the standard model. As a reminder, the standard Bentayga has 635 hp (467 kW) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. Reaches 62 mph in 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 201 mph (323 km / h).

The first McLaren SUV could arrive soon

There has been talk for many years about the SUV model at McLaren, and late last year a car teaser was released that could point to something like that. Months later, it turned out to be an electric off-road vehicle that will never be on sale. However, it looks like McLaren will join Ferrari, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, and Lamborghini.

McLaren has been in a financial crisis for a long time, so the production of SUV models, which are becoming more and more popular, could be the solution. It is the electric off-road car that is proof that McLaren has taken this path in small steps. The electric off-road racing vehicle can provide significant insight into energy management and delivery, and given that the Artura hybrid has been delayed for a long time, this information could be valuable for SUVs in the electric future. The question remains, whether the McLaren SUV will be a hybrid or an all-electric car.

Recently, McLaren got a new director, Michael Leiters. He replaced MIke Flewitt who went to Ferrari late last year. Leiters was involved in the development of the Porsche Cayenne and Macan, so his experience could play a key role.

There is no official information from McLaren about the SUV model, but according to Autocar, the will for such a thing exists. This would bring McLaren closer to the competition by the end of the decade.
