Ever since it appeared in the mid-60s, the Porsche 911 has entered the hearts of all of us, becoming an icon of the automotive industry. Over time, the car evolved with the development of new high technologies. For the new Porsche 911 Carrera, which will hit the market in 2023, we know what it will look like, the only question left is the drivetrain.

It has long been speculated that the new 911 Carrera will be powered by a 4.0-liter six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with 394 hp (289 kW) and 309 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. It is an engine from the current 718 GTS. However, in an interview with Car Expert, board member Frank-Steffen Walliser said that would not happen. Could this leave the possibility that the new Carrera will be powered by a smaller displacement engine without turbo power?

The current Porsche 911 Carrera is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine with 385 hp (283 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque, the base version. Reaches 60 mph in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 182 mph (293 kph). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), which enables incredibly swift gear changes without interrupting the flow of power. It is equipped with double wishbone suspension on the front, carbon ceramic brakes, and 19/20 inch wheels with 235 / 40ZR19 (front) and 295 / 35ZR20 (rear) Pirelli tires. The most powerful version has 480 hp (353 kW) and 420 lb-ft (570 Nm) of torque.

The new Porsche 911 Carrera features a distinctive look. On the front bumper there are two large air intakes with vertical slats, while on the sides there are unusual lights. At the rear, the camouflage hides a lot, but we can see the centrally placed exhaust system pipes.

1965 Shelby Cobra Diamond Edition lighter than ever

Since its appearance in 1962, the Shelby Cobra has gained legendary car status, and the 1965 model stands out in particular. The company Classic Recreations made a replica of this model, whose body is made of carbon and weighs only 40 kilograms (88 pounds).

The base Cobra weighs 2,204 pounds (1,000 kg), and how much Classic Recreations will reduce the weight of the ‘Diamond Edition,’ is not known. The Oklahoma-based company will make just 10 examples of this model that can only be used on the track.

Classic Recreations founder Jason Angel proudly pointed out that he learned a lot from the selfless creator of the original Cobra, Carol Shelby (who always insisted on more power in the lightest car) whose signature will adorn the cabin of this replica.

The Shelby Cobra Diamond Edition will be powered by a third-generation Ford’s 5.0-liter V8 engine with 800 hp (588 kW). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed Tremec T56 manual transmission. The car will be equipped with Wilwood brakes that will ensure safe braking and stopping.

When it comes to price, the Shelby Cobra Diamond Edition won’t be cheap at all. The price is set at 1.2 million dollars.
