Maserati canceled MC20 Folgore

Maserati is going through a very difficult period, perhaps the most difficult in the company’s history, and the latest information that the brand is shutting down the MC20 Folgore shows that the way out of the crisis is still far away.

The brand is currently at a turning point and is trying to find a solution, and one of the first moves they intend to make is a return to combustion engines. “Analysis of the market for the super sports car segment, and in particular the MC20 customers, has shown that they want to drive cars with powerful internal combustion engines. These customers are not ready to switch to electric vehicles in the near future,” said former CEO Davide Grasson.

According to Autocar, Maserati is planning to refresh the MC20 model, and the inspiration should be the MC20 GT2 Stradale. It will be powered by an improved 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine with 640 hp and 720 Nm of torque.

The MC20 Folgore is not the first Maserati sports car to become a thing of the past. A similar situation previously occurred with the Alfieri concept presented in 2014, which was supposed to enter production in 2018, but it never happened.

All of this suggests that Maserati’s electric future is uncertain.

A unique 2015 McLaren P1 is up for auction

At the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show, McLaren launched its flagship sports car, the McLaren P1, which was produced until 2015, with only 375 examples ever produced. One of them, the 2015 McLaren P1 is for sale.

This McLaren P1 was ordered by a Qatari customer and is the only one finished in Satin Camo Green with McLaren Orange interior and brake calipers, wheel caps, tops of the rear spoiler hydraulic rams, P1 logos and badges in the same color.

The car is in excellent condition and built to GCC specifications. It is powered by a 3.8-L twin-turbocharged V8 engine combined with an electric motor for a total output of 903 hp (674 kW) and 723 lb-ft (980 Nm) of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear axle. It is equipped with a 4.7 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides an electric range of 11 km (6.8 miles). It reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).

The McLaren P1 is almost new and has only 130 km on the odometer. It comes with an inspection report carried out by Dragon Racing in Dubai at the end of 2024.

The auction will take place March 24 – 28, 2025 and the estimated value of the car is $1,000,000 – $1,500,000 USD.

The UK Police will use the Skoda Octavia vRS

Skoda recently introduced a new generation of the sports version of the Octavia, the Octavia RS, which has clearly attracted the attention of many. The latest information suggests that a modified version of this model (Octavia vRS) will become a member of the fleet of the UK police forces, as well as medical services, firefighters and rescue workers.

The Skoda Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 265 hp (195 kW) and (370 Nm) of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.4 seconds.

The standard version of the Octavia RS is equipped with a sports suspension that is 15 mm lower, progressive steering and electronically controlled VAQ limited-slip differential, new sports exhausts with black tailpipes, LED Matrix beam headlights, sports seats with integrated headrests and RS logo with quilted fabric and red decorative stitching on the seat backrests, dashboard covered with neoprene and double rows of contrast stitching in red that, combined with artificial leather, cover the door panels.

There is also a large number of safety systems such as Automated Emergency Braking, Predictive Pedestrian Protection, Blind Spot Detection, and Turn Assist, which automatically applies the brakes if the driver fails to notice oncoming traffic and is at risk of a head-on collision, Attention and Drowsiness Assist, which monitors the driver’s behavior and assesses their level of drowsiness via a range of datapoints, such as the steering inputs and interventions from Lane Assist.
