Refreshed Alpine A110

Alpine recently announced that in the next few years it will be among the companies whose cars will be powered only by electricity. Obviously, some models will still have to wait, as the company has unveiled a refreshed edition of the lightweight aluminum Alpine A110.

This sports two-seater will be offered in three versions: Alpine A110, A110 GT and A110 S. The base model is powered by a centrally located Renault 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine (Megane RS) with 252 hp (185 kW) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque, which is enough to reach 62 mph in 4.5 seconds. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The A110 S is top of the range, offering an even stiffer chassis and a sporty exhaust system. The weight, depending on the equipment, ranges from 1109 to 1140 kg. It is powered by a 1.8-liter engine with 300 hp (221 kW) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque. That’s 8 hp and 20 Nm more than the previous model. It reaches 62 mph in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 171 mph (275 kph).

The A110 GT is slightly heavier than the A110 S (20 kg). It is equipped with softer leather-covered seats, and the driver also has a parking assistance system. It is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 300 hp (221 kW) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque, and top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 kph).

IONITY is increasing the number of charging stations in Europe

The increase in sales of electric vehicles affects the increase in the number of charging stations. Thus, in the next three years, IONITY (the largest European network of charging stations) is expected to increase its capacity to over a thousand charging stations.

Porsche AG Executive Board Chairman Oliver Blume said: “We are seeing a clear increase in electromobility and the associated high-performance charging infrastructure. At Porsche, 50 per cent of the cars delivered worldwide by 2025 are expected to be partially or fully electric – more than 80 per cent by the end of the decade. By investing in the IONITY joint venture, we are sending an important signal to customers that elevates the comfort and convenience of traveling in an electric vehicle even further. ”

Currently, IONITY has 1,500 charging points, and the intention is to increase that number to 7,000 charging points. They will be built next to larger cities, not just on European highways, and each station will have 12 charging points.

This will have a special significance for owners of Porsche EV models (such as the Porsche Taycan). Through 800-volt technology, they will be able to charge their cars with full potential up to 270 kW. Currently, Porsche through its Porsche Charging Service offers its customers 200,000 charging points of which 6,500 are with a charging capacity of more than 50 kW DC.

IONITY is owned by several major global car manufacturers such as Volkswagen Group, Hyundai Motors, Mercedes-Benz AG, BMW Group and Ford Motor Company.

Porsche announces a new SUV model above the Cayenne

Porsche has announced the arrival of a new SUV model to be positioned above the Cayenne. According to Automotive News, Porsche informed dealers about this, and one of them revealed that the new model is a combination of crossover and sedan, with a design different from current Porsche SUV models.

Without enough information, because the vehicle is part of the Porsche Unseen program, where most remain just an idea. “We’re grateful for such creativity within our business, as we’re continuously exploring new opportunities and where we might compete in the future,” a Porsche spokesman said.

It is not known whether the three-row vehicle will use technologies from Audi’s Project Artemis, which has been announced for 2024. “We are very open in sharing ideas under an initiative — Porsche Unseen — the majority of which don’t make it beyond the ideas stage,” a Porsche spokesman said.

The vehicle is being developed under the code name “Landjet” and will be powered by a plug-in hybrid engine. For now, the electric version is not in the plans, but that does not mean that we may not see it in the future.
