Road rage attack on Tesla in New Zealand

Every now and then, we witness attacks on Tesla drivers. Luckily, Tesla models are equipped with cameras.

Footage from New Zealand shows an inexplicable attack by a Mitsubishi driver. He tried to stop Geoff Gardiner in the Tesla Model X on several occasions with his Galant, offended by Geoff’s overtake. After failing in his intention, the driver of the Mitsubishi limousine, in a rage, decided that he wanted to ram Geoff! He sideswiped the Tesla, nearly losing control, and blocked Tesla. Gardiner tried to get away, but an angry driver closed the gap and both vehicles were immobilized.

That didn’t stop the Mitsubishi driver. He gets out of the car and angrily hits the glass of Tesla’s SUV with his hands, screaming and threatening Geoff. He even stops other drivers, not allowing them to leave the place.

Seeing that he can’t argue with the infuriated man, Geoff calls 911. Soon the police arrive and the Mitsubishi driver suggests that Tesla’s driver is to blame. The Tesla driver hands the video to the police, after which the police arrest the angry driver. He will be charged, among other things, for damages estimated at about $ 45,000.

2022 Honda Civic Type R

A few days ago we announced the arrival of the new Honda Civic Type R. Now Kolesa has removed the camouflage and shows the look of the most powerful version of the hatchback.

The new Civic Type R is slightly wider than its predecessor, but retains an aggressive look. It is equipped with a new grille, larger wheel arches, centrally placed exhaust tailpipes, larger wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, larger air intakes on the new bumper, a larger rear wing, a new diffuser and a triple exhaust.

Under the hood will be a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with more than 320 hp (235 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque, which are the numbers that the European version of its predecessor has. The engine will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission that will transfer power to the front axle.

The Honda Civic Type R is the 11th generation of this model, which is expected to be, as previously announced, the last Honda model with ICE to be sold in Europe. Although it will arrive on the European market in 2022, American buyers will have to wait until 2023.

Toyota Mirai with a range of 845 miles

When we talk about the records achieved with cars powered by ICE, the first thing we think of is speed and time. Electric cars have another goal, and that is battery range. Such is the case with the hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai.

From August 23 to 24, the new Toyota Mirai covered 845 miles with just one charge, which is the new Guinness World Record. The entire process was controlled by Guinness World Records adjudicator, Michael Empric.

“As a Guinness World Records adjudicator for 10 years, I’ve had the opportunity to witness incredible attempts, including several distance-related feats. The Toyota Mirai’s journey without the need to refuel showcases the power of fuel cell electric technology. This technology and the design ingenuity by the team at Toyota led to a history-making moment, ”said Michael Empric.

For two days, the car was driven through the city rush hour traffic and on the highway. On the first day, the car covered a distance of 473 miles (761 km). On the second day 372 miles (598 km). The drivers of the Toyota Mirai were a well-known duo, Wayne Gerdes and Bob Winger, known for setting fuel efficiency records in the U.S.

For sure, Toyota tried to use this opportunity to push its hydrogen initiative even further, which is why they chose the Mirai model to set a record.
