The hood latch issue caused the recall of almost 1.9 million Tesla vehicles

Over the past few years, Tesla has recalled several million of its vehicles due to various safety issues. In June there was a safety problem with the seat belt warning system. Now, they are recalling nearly 2 million vehicles due to a software issue that fails to warn drivers of an open hood.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) warned Tesla that an inadequately secured hood could open while driving, blocking the driver’s view. Therefore, the Tesla company offered an over-the-air software update, which should solve the problem.

The problem with unintended hood opening was reported in China in March, after which the company launched an investigation and found latch switch deformation as the cause of the warning not being activated. The hood latch assemblies were manufactured by the Chinese company Magna Closures Kunshan Co. Ltd., and the engineers started inspecting Tesla vehicles in Europe and North America. The investigation is still ongoing, but the company has decided to recall 1.8 million vehicles for the safety of drivers.

This issue affected Model 3, Model S, and Model X cars built between 2021 and 2024, and Model Y cars built between 2020 and 2024.

Modified 1963 Porsche 356B Coupe is up for auction

Whether it’s an original or a modified car, any example of Porsche’s first production car will attract attention. Such is the case with this Outlaw-style 1963 Porsche 356B Coupe that is for sale.

Under the bonnet is a replacement 2.2-liter flat-four equipped with dual Weber 48 IDA carburetors, an alternator conversion, and a stainless-steel sport exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a WEVO-built five-speed manual transaxle using rebuilt 914 internals. It is mounted on satin metallic black Hot Rods By Boyd 16×5.5″ wheels wrapped in 195/60 Michelin Premier A/S tires.

In 2020, the car was purchased disassembled, stripped to bare metal and equipped with replacement components and repainted in metallic brown. The owner chose Outlaw-style so all the holes for the bumper were filled, custom billet door handles were installed along with Talbot bullet-style mirrors and Flat6 LED headlights, louvers were added to the dual-grille decklid along with cutouts for the exhaust outlets, and the glass was replaced. There are also Koni shocks, and a CSP four-wheel disc brake conversion kit with drum-style hubs, and overhauled suspension.

Inside, Zims-style aluminum bomber seats are trimmed in brown leather that also covers the dash pad, door panels, and rear bulkhead. In front of the driver is a Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel and a five-digit odometer showing 51,814 miles (total mileage unknown). Accessories include a roll bar with Schroth harnesses, a 917-style wooden handle, black rubber mats that protect the dark brown square-weave carpets, and a Blaupunkt multi-band radio. A diamond-stitched leather mat lines the front trunk, which houses an Optima Red Top battery and a blade-style fuse panel.

The car comes with build documents and photos as well as a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The auction ends on August 1st and the highest bid at the time of writing was $103,560 USD.

2025 Pagani Utopia Roadster

Two years ago Pagani presented a limited edition of its super sports two-seater Utopia Coupe, and now the Roadster version of this model is coming to the market. The car was named after the book of the English philosopher Thomas More, and the company announced that only 130 cars will be produced.

Pagani Utopia Roadster is finished in Habanero Red and just like the Coupe, it is equipped with Carbo-Titanium body, forged aluminum alloy independent double wishbone with helical springs and electronically controlled shock absorbers, brembo 4 ventilated carbon-ceramic 410 mm discs with 6 pistons monolithic calipers at the front and 390 mm discs with 4 monolithic calipers at the rear.

The cockpit is covered with Grecale and Huayra Signature leather, with a semi-matt anodized finish with fine workmanship on the dashboard, central tunnel, air vents, and aluminum parts of the gear lever.

The car is powered by a centrally mounted 6-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine with 864 hp (635 kW) @ 6,000 rpm and 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) of torque @ 5,900 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 7-speed transversal AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) or a pure manual with an electro-mechanical differential. It is mounted on innovative 21″ and 22″ Pirelli Cyber™ Tyre which, thanks to an advanced sensor system, enables the tires to communicate with the car.

Each car is unique and so is the price of 3.1 million euros (tax not included).
