Since the beginning of the development of electric cargo trucks, the Swedish company Volvo Trucks has been a pioneer in this field, and in 2022 it started serial production of these vehicles. The company announced that by then they had sold more than 2,500 electric trucks, of which more than 1,000 were heavy trucks. Now the logistics company DSV has ordered 300 Volvo electric trucks, which will be one of the largest fleets of these vehicles in Europe.
Volvo Trucks is seeing an increase in demand for its electric vehicles. Last year, 1,977 Class 8 trucks were delivered, an increase of 256 percent over the previous year. The company continued to attract a lot of interest from customers this year, and in the first quarter it occupied 56 percent of the electric truck market in Europe and 44 percent in the USA.

DSV currently has more than 20,000 trucks on the road every day, transporting goods all over the world. The company’s goal is to have 2,000 electric trucks in its fleet by the end of the decade, and this order is a step towards that goal. The plan is to use the trucks for European operations, and deliveries from Volvo Trucks will begin in the fourth quarter of this year and will last until the end of 2025. In addition to electric trucks, DSV also ordered 500 Penta diesel and gas powered trucks. After completing the delivery to DSV, Volvo will have more than 4,000 fully electric trucks on the road.
