Porsche 911 Safari on the Nürburgring

As we recently announced, Porsche is intensively testing the new 911 Safari model. This time CarSpyMedia has released a video from the Nürburgring which shows a prototype of a legal-road rally model with off-road capabilities.

The video shows that the suspension is slightly higher than the Carrera 4S on which it is based. It is the same car whose spy photos were recently published.

Although there is no confirmation yet, the Porsche 911 Safari should be powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged boxer 6 engine with 443 hp (326 kW) and 390 lb-ft (529 Nm) of torque. Power will be transmitted to all wheels via a 7-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed dual-clutch PDK.

The test model was equipped with 20-inch aluminum rims with 295/40 Pirelli tires. The standard Carrera 4S model reaches 60 mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph (306 kph), and the Safari model is expected to have the same performance.
