Porsche Mission R

The future of electric race cars

At the Munich Motor Show, Porsche unveiled the Mission R concept model. It is a fully electric race car that achieves the same results on the track as the current 911 GT3 Cup.

Mission R is made of plastic reinforced with natural fibers, combining modern technology and sustainable materials. To reduce the weight of the vehicle, the safety cage is made of carbon fiber. With a length of 170.3 inches (4,326 mm) it is slightly shorter than the 718 Cayman model.

Inside, everything is subordinated to the driver. On the two-spoke steering wheel, which can be used as an e-sport simulator, there is a display that shows the speed and other information about the car. Above the steering wheel is another screen connected to the side cameras (side mirrors) and the central mirror.

“Porsche is a brand for people who fulfill their dreams. The same goes for motoring. We experience our innovative strength on the racetrack, show courage in finding new roads and delight car owners with sporty performance. In addition to our participation in the Formula E World Championship, we are now taking the next big step forward in the field of electric mobility. The concept study is our vision of fully electric motoring for customers.Mission R is the epitome of everything that makes Porsche strong: performance, design and sustainability, ”Says Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche AG.

It is powered by electric motors with a staggering 1,074 hp (800 kW). With all-wheel drive, the Mission R reaches 62 mph in about 2.5 seconds with a top speed of 187 mph (300 km / h). The electric motors are powered by an 80 kWh battery. Thanks to 900-volt turbocharging technology, the battery can be charged to 80 percent in just 15 minutes.
