1959 Porsche 356A 1600 Super

Recently, there are more and more vintage cars on the market that collectors and enthusiasts consider extremely attractive and desirable. Such is the case with the Porsche 356A 1600 Super, which was produced between 1956 and 1959. One such, a 1959 Porsche 356A 1600 Super, is up for auction.

The Porsche 356A 1600 Super is powered by a replaced 1.6-liter flat-four engine (from the 1961 Porsche 356B). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission. It was recently serviced, which included adjusting the valves and carburetors, setting the timing, and replacing the oil pressure switch, spark plugs, ignition points, air filters, and valve cover gaskets. It is mounted on 15″ Lemmerz steel wheels wrapped in Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

This car was purchased new by a US Air Force Captain from Max Hoffman Motor Car Co. in New York City. It’s finished in Ruby Red (5702) and is in pretty good condition. It is equipped with an optional Golde sliding sunroof, body-color bumpers with chrome overriders and guards, Lucas driving lights, LED taillights, dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear bumper, and a wide-five spare wheel mounted in the front trunk. With the car, the new owner will also receive a set of vintage wooden skis and poles.

Inside, the seats are covered in black vinyl, which also covers the door panels and dashboard. Additional equipment includes a heater, an Ivory-colored steering wheel, door pockets, a locking glove box, a push-button Blaupunkt radio, and an aftermarket CB radio. The five-digit odometer shows 52,919 miles.

The car comes with service records from new, an original purchase contract, owner’s manuals, historical photos and literature, a tool kit, a removed engine, a Kardex report, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Montana title in the owner’s name LLC.

The auction ends on March 23 and the current highest bid is $55,000 USD.
